I know, it's cheeky of me to butt in here with a response but, given that,

a/ I'm astonished (and delighted!) to see someone other than either Rosemary or myself post stuff.

and

b/ am also relieved to see that I hadn't, afterall, imagined that somebody on this forum signed their posts with a Rumi quote (it HAS been a long time!!! ).

I just had to get my penny's worth in!

As anyone lucky enough to go to one of the Jazz Cafe gigs will tell you, there were flyers being thrust at us from all directions, advertising a forth-coming album (you didn't REALLY think the man was past it did you???) and I think it's going to be called something like "London Undersound" but I could just have made that one up and convinced myself. It's 'Nitin' as we know him but with a new and exciting twist.....singers and musicians are to record and subsequently perform the entire album in mime. obviously it's not going to be the kind of album you can sing along to.... or maybe you can, afterall, who'd know whether you hit a bum note or not....?

It is indeed called that - have a flyer somewhere round the house. But it is not due out until 2008 - no month given. So that gives him some flexibility as to when ...... In the meantime, I think Nitin is busy writing film soundtracks.

hey what about me, I put in an occasional appearance.......... I know clearly not as committed to the cause as you two! And what about the good Mr Sawhney, no update from him of late, perhaps we could do with one of those to see what the year has in stall for him, and what we will be able to enjoy, seeing as I never made the Jazz cafe gigs, talking of which- Buga where is that big rubber band of mine?

Little 'r'!!!! So lovely to read your post! As you can see... Mr. S is as ellusive as ever, no sign of techies either and Rosemary is repeating herself.... so, nothing's changed!!!

You know, I was right about the title (she writes, determined to at least aim briefly back in the general direction of Rhian's topic) of the forthcoming album. There's a reference to it on Bazna.com, with a link that leads to this website......

It hadn't occurred to me that you might want the elastic back but I'm a great believer in recycling so I did try sneaking back into the venue the following week to retrieve it. Unfortunately, the bouncers refused to believe that I was carrying a clawhammer in my handbag for the sole purpose of removing a giant makeshift catapult from the balcony, and promptly expelled me. "What catapult?" they demanded to know. Then somebody from management came to the door and asked the bouncers what was going on, before informing me of the horrendous outcome of our elasticated experiment.... (makes me feel queasy just thinking about it....)

Apparently, not just one, but several members of the audience spotted your length of elastic, way above their heads, and attempted to use it to hurl themselves onto the stage. Unfortunately, Rosemary, we had stretched it quite a bit more than was necessary. As one couple were to discover, it was taut enough to fling them with enough force to cause their noses to completely disintergrate on impact. Several more people had already met this fate before anyone realised what was happening and then ofcourse, the remainder of the audience went from being blissfully oblivious to uncontrollably hysterical as the last of our airborne adventurers hit the wall with a sickening smack, and slithered down onto the stage, unconscious...... ops: and to think, we had put that catapult there with only the kindest of intentions....

Anyway, I'm guessing that there'll be more than one person reading this, who was there on the night in question and is thinking, "She's making it up as she goes along!" And well they might think that because, just as the staff were wondering how they were going to manage to calm everyone down, one of the barstaff scrambled up onto the stage, pulled out a massive pocket watch, swung it back and forth and proceeded to repeat the phrase, "You are feeling very sleepy", until the whole room fell silent. The amateur hypnotist continued, convincing the entire audience that the whole grizzly incident had not taken place, while his colleagues mopped up.

Well, as you can imagine, I was so distressed by this news that I could barely find the words to speak. When I did eventually ask, "But what happened to the elastic?" there was much shrugging and "Dunno"'s until one of the bouncers visibly brightened and said "Hey, didn't that bloke on the keyboards take it home with him?"

Actually the internet was slow on Sunday night (often is on Sundays), I couldn't get back in to check my post, grrr......

As for the elastic, I think you are having strange viewing habits now, Buga. Wasn't it "Men In Black" where they erased memories. I certainly don't recall strange creatures at the Jazz cafe ..... unless it was that strange woman I met from the Nitin Sawhney forum!

And there was I thinking you needed the elastic for your cloak or some other piece of apparel. What on earth would Mr S do with it?

And what strange woman are you talking about? I know I joked about you and your coffee fixation but I don't recall seeing any strange women, and I was standing NEXT to you all night! Clearly, you are better at spotting them than I am.... hang on a minute..... no, wait, forget it - Pawli went to the gig the night after us, didn't she?

I've no idea what Mr. Sawhney would do with a long piece of elastic. Perhaps he has dug a large hole, secured a sheet of MDF over it with some old tent pegs, and nailed one end of the elastic to centre of the board and tied the other end to a nearby sapling to make an earth bow?

Well, why not? What did you think I was going to do with it???

Errrrrr ..... actually, I was there too on the first night ... but things started to get a bit distracting, what with various members of the audience flying above my head and causing a commotion on stage ... it all set off my nervous twitch big time .... so I quietly slipped out before the end, otherwise, people might think I was a bit strange ... do you think I ought to see a lawyer and get some advice on claiming compensation for emotional distress?

"Emotional Distress"??? That's a bit harsh for you, isn't it Pawli? I thought the band sounded brilliant myself!
