India and Pakistan 07 on the BBC

I was wondering whether anyone had been watching this and had any opinions on either specific programmes or the season as a whole.

I have to say that I preferred the serious documentaries, and am looking forward to getting my head round some history with Michael Wood.  There did seem to be some overlap between the various programmes - had the season not been planned  carefully?.  And I know it was India & Pakistan season, but I think I would have liked more about why the partition led to the eventual formation of Bangladesh from East Pakistan, albeit some years later.

    Anyone else with some thoughts?

Hey Rosemary. Freedom at Midnight  Dominique Lapierre and Larry Collins.  is a good read for a westerner as is Midnights Children, by Salman Rusdie. Shame is his best work though, in my Humble Opinion.

What led to the Partision? Everybody is is someone elses wierdo....

    Hi Rarehipster,

I read "Midnight's Children" some years ago and found it quite harrowing.  I'm trying to plough my way through a number of books on my shelves, but will try to look up "Freedom at Midnight" at some time.
