    Re: remixes

Nitin is a dj himself remember, and from what i heard a good one too (!), so i wonder what he thinks about those missing tracks !!??

Though in saying that, i should think he presses them up on a white or 2 for his own use. Like Sumit said regarding that 50 only (yes 50!! only ...why, I don't know exactly) pressing of LATELY (Ges'e rmx).

But i'd definately luuuuuuuuuuurrve to have those few tracks on an extra piece of wax or 2 !
Even a white --just someone tell us on this board that it's coming though, or we'll all miss the sodding thing !!

...'with this u r really spoiling us'... a man once said,

    Re: remixes

The Koop edit was done only for the Fabric Live album. If you want Fabric to issue a 12", you can ask them here:
    www.fabriclondon.com

As for the D&K remix, we'd have loved to put it onto the 12", but V2 simply weren't prepared to pay Outcaste the stash of cash they asked for.....

    Those are the breaks.

    Re: remixes

Thanks for that Sumit. I'm on the case. See below for contact made with Fabric:

Any chance of releasing a white or sumin' of Koop's "Relaxing At Club Fusion" [Nitin Sawhney edit] (taken from Nitin's volume of the Fabric Live CD) ?
According to Sumit (Nitin's manager), this is completely up to you... !
    (see the link below)

Also the Dzihan & Kamien remix (from the same Fabric CD) was not available to them for Nitin's new remixes compilation, so as a secondary idea, you might consider this too perhaps ??

See this link to understand why I initiated this idea...
    http://www.nitinsawhney.com/board/viewtopic.php?t=27

Many people are after them on a seperate UNMIXED vinyl piece, as you can see from the link, over 300+ reads!

    Many Thanks,
    Jim

    Re: remixes

    Hi people,
Good to see theres a lively debate regarding the mixes for the compilation,
I had much interest to see both my mixes on both formats, but from a label persepective, with the ltd format space and budgets available on such projects it is hard for a label to put out an unlimited number of discs.

Being a DJ myself I am hard to be convinced to play tracks of CD because of the mixing problems and would have loved to see the The River on vinyl. Eastern Eyes was actually going to be left off completely, but after much persuasion, and other DJ's I pestered to give it more radio play!! they put it back on the vinyl.
But the more people ask for The River and other mixes to be put on vinyl, the better. (Otherwise I' will never see the mixes either!). Whats the point of a remix without it exposing the artist to further audiences by being played out, primarily by vinyl DJ's?

Anyhow, hope you like them , and please check out my other bits and pieces!

    Re: remixes

I used the subject line cause I saw the man bruce-ee out in L town recently. 'Old' is not a term I adhere to: 'party' he does...

    Anwayzzzz...
Back to the business in question. Yes vinyl is a lovely thing and all, and I agree with your synopsis of the problem. Money, cash, earnings, ratio's of the above to profits. Understandable given the hardships suffered by the music business in the recent past.

But unfortunately, WE the dj/vinyl collectors, seem to be suffering the wraith the hardest. Vinyl increases in price (speaking to the non-promo heads out there, here, who have to actually put hand in pocket & PAY for the stuff!); though according to industry figures, is selling in equal amounts --or more-- in the past 2 yrs or so. Yet CD's decrease in price, due to lower sales, thus digital download promises to increase music ownership via non-hard formats.
    yyyyyyyyyyyyuuuuck !!

Just outta interest, reply from Fabric:
    jim

    thanks for the e-mail.
at present the fabric record label is only releasing compilation cds so there are no plans to release any sepearte vinyl. sorry.

appreciate your interest in the cd and e-mailing us

So NO vinyl after all...End of transmission. Me give up. Too much effort. Sore fingers. Broken spirit. erm erm.. cough splutter...

All I hope is that the tradition af music '(re)searching' doesn't become a habit of the past, as we all download whatever we like from back cat. of everyone, always, ever !

Dig the groove, dig FOR the grooves.
('coz me a vinyl softy after all....)
