    Ek larki ko dekha

I love this song and have listened to it for years.

I know it is about love, but I don't know the lyrics.

I just watched the movie "1942 A Love Story", and there were NO subtitles during the song!

I still don't know the lyrics.

    Can anyone help?

The Hindi lyrics are here www.hindilyrix.com/songs/get_song_Ek%20ladki%20ko%20dekha%20to%20aisa%20laga.html  and here is the translation http://www.hindilyrics.net/translation-1942-A-Love-Story/Ek-Ladki-Ko-Dekha.html

I can't vouch for the accuracy as I only know a handful of Hindi words

Good heavens, Donald!  How hard did you look for these lyrics?!!!?  I read your post this morning, googled the song title + english+lyrics and came up with this.....

    http://www.bollywhat.com/lyrics/1942_lyr.html

Yes! Lyrics in English AND Hindi!!!!  Unfortunately, I can log into the forum here, on my phone, and write posts even but, my mobile internet won't let me post them so I had to wait until I returned to the rat metropolis tonight, before I could post this!

Anyway, perhaps this movie is worth watching?  I've watched only a handful of Indian movies and am still learning!  I used to have a wonderful neighbour who probably knew every movie ever made, but he moved some years ago.  He was so passionate about it that he once kept me in the garden for over three hours, while he described in literally, frame-by-frame detail, his most favourite movie of all time .... I hadn't the heart to interrupt him to say that I'd only ever seen one Indian movie at that time.... and it was that one!!!

So, if anyone would like to recommend some choice films, please do so..... erm, maybe in the miscellaneous section though!!!

    Buga,

I guess the more often you use Google, the more sophisticated you get about using it.  Or thinking laterally if you can't find it. I put in translation as well as the title of the film to find it.

Anyway, coming shortly to the Miscellaneous section near you ........

Well, now you can sing along in both languages, Donald!  I tried looking for film at my local rental but no joy.  However, I'm beginning to find my way around the shelves and struck gold when I found that they had Satyajit Ray's  Apu Trilogy. Some of us were really lucky to be introduced to the first film, "Pather Panchali" by the man himself (Sawhney, not Ray!) at a showing a few years back.  You HAVE to see them. Simple as that..... but, there's no singing for you to join in with though, Donald!!!

Re: Films - Satyajit Ray Directorspective

It's going to be so sweet to see Pather Panchali on a big screen again!  OK, it's minus Mr. Sawhney's introduction this time round but what a wonderful start to a mini-season of Ray films..... I have to say though, whenever I see a shot of the garden walls, I just have an urge to repair them (like I'd know how!!!) but maybe that's just deep-seated guilt from having fallen asleep during a slide lecture on dry stone walling....yeah, I could've got away with it, had I not been one half of the lecturer's entire audience.... which just goes to show, I can annoy people, even with my eyes closed!

Fortunately, PP promises to be hell of a lot more riveting, if anyone else out there is planning on seeing it.  You may weep, but you certainly won't sleep!Yes

Erm.... I don't know if any other forum visitors went to see Pather Panchali today but I hope that you enjoyed it as much as we did and, er, if you were disturbed by a loud rustling sound once or twice,  please accept my humble apologies.... it was my friend's sweetie bag Confused
